Rose Cut stones resemble their namesake, the beautiful rose, in the style that was started in the United States. They were first found in the early 1500s and remained very famous for many years, and are once again one of the most popular cutting styles. Rose cut is a method of faceting gemstones so that the base of the stone is wide, flat, and unfaceted, whereas the top of the stone is domed and covered with triangular facets. Often in two rows, the facets are grouped so that the very highest part of the stone terminates in a point.
Sapphires can be sliced through the middle, producing two stones that can create a matching pair. Sapphires in the collection are often paired with gemstones such as peridot and blue topaz in a harmonious blend of color and shape. Rose cut sapphires with blue topaz are a stunning combination.
